Solemn Assembly Devotional Day 9: Build

The great thing for us to know about God is that we can be restored and reconciled to Him. He is willing, even now, to be our friend. In Jesus Christ we have the testimony and confirmation that He is willing to have mercy upon us.

Hosea 6:3 Then we will know, if we follow on to know the Lord.

If we are to build the Kingdom of God within ourselves and in others; knowledge of God is a duty. To know our Lord is the duty of every professing follower of Him. To be without knowledge of our Lord and our faith is not a good thing. I’m not talking about philosophical knowledge of God, as an almighty being, or the creator of all things, or knowledge of His holiness, or that He is righteous in all He does. Such a knowledge of Him alone would simply lead to dread, or fear.
“God in nature, is God above me; God in providence, is God beyond me; God in law, is God against me; but God in Jesus Christ, is God for me and with me.” - William Jay
This is profound because there are many ways one could know God. But there is only one way that we can know a God who is for us, and with us. That is to know God in Jesus Christ. We must allow the Kingdom to be built within us with all diligence by reading Scripture, listening to faithful preaching of the Word of God, meditate on both, and above all, pray to the Father of Lights.

Reflection and Prayer:
Pray according to His promise: James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men generously, and reproaches not; and it shall be given him.
