Do you believe that God is legalistic for wanting you and I to honor Him and to place Him first? Most would say no, however, we stop short when it comes to God and our finances. Yet, God has a desire to be frist in every area of our life, including our finances.
The tithe is simply the first 10% brought to God to honor Him for providing for us. Therefore, if God is not a legalist for desiring to be first, how can bringing Him the first in our finances be? Conclusion: The tithe is not legalistic! It’s about the first! It’s about trusting in God and not in circumstances, and its about faith.
Proverbs 3:9-10 [9] Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; [10] then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. Think about this; Jesus was God’s tithe! Romans 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Colossians 1:15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Colossians 1:18And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. God gave Jesus first in faith even when we were sinners, while we were mocking Him and spitting in His face while He was dying. God didn’t wait to see if we would change or repent or get worthy. He gave the clean spotless lamb, the firstborn, for us the “unclean”. Because of what God has done for me, in every area of my life, I will place Him first, even in my finances! What about you?
